MARINA, Calif., December, 2009- The world's largest ginger root has landed at the headquarters of The Ginger People in Marina, California, and will be unveiled to the public on December 17. Made out of 16,000 pounds of solid granite, the personified ginger statue stands 10 feet. An application to The Guinness Book of World Records is underway.

The statue is a gift from the company's Chinese partners to commemorate The Ginger People's new location and its successful, long-term relationship and growing commerce between the two companies. Ginger was first discovered in China over 5000 years ago and brought to Western civilization by Marco Polo.

As a lead up to the unveiling of the world's largest ginger statue, The Ginger People are conducting a worldwide game of hide and seek. The game invites consumers to find small replicas of their ginger statue, hidden in retail outlets throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and Kuwait.

The ginger fan in each market who finds the hidden ginger statue will win $250 worth of Ginger People products and a one-of-a-kind statue of their very own. Clues to the whereabouts of each statue are being dispersed to thousands of ginger fans through social media including facebook and twitter.

"This is a great opportunity for us to share our passion for ginger with our fans on a global level", says Nicole DeCarli, marketing coordinator at The Ginger People. "Were having a lot of fun with this. There are many ways to put yourself on the map. Our statue is big enough that even Google earth might spot us! We may not be the Great Wall, but we're certainly the greatest when it comes to ginger"
