china or prc. why do people continue to buy from communist china? there are so many mislabeled products, companies should be fined for false advertising.

Response from The Ginger People US

We are sorry to hear you feel mislead by our product. We state on the product label and website that this product is made in either China or Fiji, depending on seasonal availability.

China is the believed to be the birthplace of ginger. Essentially, all of the ginger in the rest of the world can be traced back to a “mother” rhizome coming from this land. We partner with family farms in Fujian Provence to source the finest ginger we have found from this region. Our owners regularly visit the farms and factory our products are made in, and regular quality control audits are in place as well.

Our factory is unique in that only ginger is processed there, allowing us to keep our products pure and ensure the highest quality standards. Our factory is also Fair Trader Certified. We use BCS Öko -Garantie GmbH, a well-recognized German Organic certifying body, to verify the world’s most rigorous Organic standards are adhered to, from farm to package.

Other companies may choose to transport raw materials incredible distances and package them far from where they are grown. At The Ginger People, we believe in transparency of source and environmentally conscious production choices. For this reason, we endeavor to process and package as close to the fields as possible, when practical.

Regardless of country of origin (domestic or imported), we test batch samples of all finished product a third-party lab here in California before we release any product for sale to the public to ensure that not only are any State or FDA regulations being met but also our strict quality standards.

If you still wish to avoid products from China, that is not a problem as we also have this product in select stores made with our Fijian Ginger.

If you have any other questions about our sourcing, please feel free to email us directly at [email protected]

We’ve been buying this sushi ginger for the past two years. Typically from Walmart as the price is best. It’s our favorite sushi ginger and better than any we’ve had in any Japanese restaurant. I eat it like candy it’s that good… but not this most recent jar. It tasted like pure vinegar. Awful. The acid was so strong it irritated my throat. What on earth happened? It’s manufactured in China. (as it has always been). They better not be messing with our food supply. Make this right Ginger Pantry. I’m willing to bet this isn’t the only jar with this problem.

Response from The Ginger People US

Sushi Ginger is supposed to be very thin, sheer slices. These slices are as thick as a slice of cheese. Looks nothing like the slices in your photos. And it is extremely sweet. Almost like eating candy. Does not go well with my Sushi. Added sugar is totally unnecessary. Highly disappointed in your brand. Wasted my money.

This sushi ginger does not contain any artificial sugar or synthetic preservatives – it’s great no food coloring either!
